A man was left so rattled after discovering a suspicious mark on his doorframe that he dashed out to purchase a professional security camera system.
Home security remains a major worry for countless people, with break-ins and burglaries sparking dread and concern among many. Crime Rate UK reveals that police forces across England and Wales have logged 222,402 burglary reports this year alone. Naturally, discovering any potential indicators that someone has attempted to access your property can be deeply disturbing.
This proved true for one man who spotted an indentation on his door frame. The tiny, rectangular-shaped mark looked like the edge of a crowbar, which sent him into a panic that he'd been singled out by a prospective burglar.

He then recalled hearing an odd sound during the early morning hours several days earlier and believes he might have frightened off the wannabe intruder.
The man turned to Reddit to seek other people's views. In a post entitled, "Does this mark on the door mean there was an attempted breaking in?"
He penned: "I noticed this mark on my door earlier today. It's right AT where the door lock is and appears to have slipped through! Any advice please?"
The home owner shared a series of photographs displaying his doorframe in close detail. The dent does seem to align with his lock.
In a further comment, he provided additional information: "I heard a noise at the door a few days ago, it was past midnight, I ran to the window at ground floor but couldn't see anyone.
"I was very fast though and didn't hear any other noise while approaching the door.
"The door is multi point locking or whatever the terminology, so the lock is not only next to the cylinder but top to bottom there are many locking points".
In the comments section, people were eager to share their views with many agreeing that it appeared as though someone had tried to break into his home.
One person said: "Looks like a crowbar indent. Source: random guy on Reddit". Another said: "Someone def. shoved a flat bar in there to try and pop the door."
A third commented: "If it was an attempted break in it means your door and lock did their job. If it wasn't then all good as well."
Someone else shared: "I'm now more convinced than ever that bolts on doors are a very good idea. It's incredible how easy most things are to unlock with the right tools."
Another suggested: "Could be [a sign of a break in]. You could inform the police and they may send someone out to view it and take any toolmark casts if they opine it's useful."
The man confirmed he had "called the police" and "filed a report". Someone else said: "Whatever caused it, it's Ring doorbell (or similar) time!"
The man replied: "I bought cameras already with a professionally installed security system. Thanks everyone for the sound advice".
